Dear World Karate Federation (WKF) players,
We are delighted to invite you to what is anticipated to be the most prestigious karate tournament on the world stage during the lead up to the 2010 WKF World titles – The Shanghai Open.
This exciting karate event will be hosted by the Shanghai Karate Association under the auspices of the Chinese Karate Association on the 9th and 10th July 2010 in Shanghai, China.
The tournament will be held in conjunction with the 10th Shanghai International Wushu Festival and has the added bonus of being held in Shanghai the same time as the 2010 World Expo.
The World Expo (May to October 2010) will attract over 70 million visitors to Shanghai and will provide karate with the opportunity to showcase its potential to the world.
With the WKF World titles being held in Serbia in late 2010, we consider this to be the best warm up international tournament available this year. Many National teams and current world champions are also expected to attend this event.
The tournament will be split into three sections:
1. Senior male and female National team WKF members in Kumite and Kata.
Weight divisions and rules the same as the WKF list.
2. Junior/Cadet and Under 21 male and female divisions in Kumite and Kata.
Weight divisions and rules the same as the WKF list.
3. A WKF only club tournament for men/women and children from 8 years of age as well as a veterans male and female event from 35 years to 45 years in Kumite and Kata
This event is to encourage our future National team athletes.
Please confirm your attendance with appropriate numbers of athletes, officials and referees as soon as possible to secure your place.
